I don’t think any nation hostile to democracy/US interests would dare do anything to Trump in general. Something like a third of Americans voted to destroy their own country. Why would the Saudis want us to not shoot ourselves in the foot?

It was always about extracting tributes and concessions from Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia just doesn’t want to be turned into another Iraq or Libya or Syria or Palestine or any country that got on the bad side of the US. The US is known to hold a grudge, just look at the 67-year embargo on Cuba.
