but why are poob executives getting arrested? does it stand for some high seas website? are they based out of an authoritarian country? is this just being silly?
I took it as the streaming services popping up and going down faster than drug dealers and piracy sites, as if the FBI is always hot on their tail. And the licenses being passed around like they’re a smuggling ring for exotic animals.
The first part is making fun of the abundance of competing streaming services with silly names. The second part highlites that despite their big numbers, they all still fucking suck and it’s nigh impossible to legally watch shows anymore
It’s making fun of the weird streaming platform names like Hulu, Tubi, Mubi, Shudder, Acorn TV, Hayu, Crackle, Xumo, Pluto TV.
And the confusing world of where your favorite shows are streaming from.
Finding a place to legally watch a specific TV show has become very frustrating. Been through this with several shows. I no longer use any streaming services but it can be nearly impossible to find some shows, particularly ones that were released pre-streaming era.
i was using this russian movie-web host that had an insane amount of non-english content. there were also loads of dubs for almost everything. some english shows would default to spanish or russian, but the original audio was always available too.
everything was so easy, i miss it dearly :c
ps: there’s a russian dub of shameless and the VAs are surprisingly spot on
I will say, Russia and Brazil seem to be the kings of having these archives - as a dual Spanish and English native speaker, I kind of wish something similar was happening for us lol
That’s a skill issue if you are only using clearweb searches - most of the good stuff is found in forums, archives that aren’t indexed by common search engines (Anna’s archive for books for instance), and user groups.
If you’re looking for something niche, you’re probably best checking using a search engine that isn’t google, and getting familiar with VPNs, torrenting, TOR and checking the files you download.
fill me in. what’s this about?
The stupid name of streaming service and the exclusive right of streaming pile of shit if i’m not wrong.
this comment only confuses me more

It’s just one big meme, the names are all made up and likely don’t reference any specific events.

I reflect on the 8-bit guy’s statement when it comes to digital products:
“When [copyright holder] is unwilling to make product available for sale, I don’t shed too many tears when people pirate the material.”
The best subscription service is a no-logs VPN.
Well there’s your problem!
Illegally is near impossible too if it’s something that isn’t English language and isn’t anime. If this is a skill issue lmk.
