My guy clothes are feeling more and more like a costume. I wish my body were feminine enough, and my wardrobe of girl clothes large enough, that I could wear them all the time.

I wish my body were feminine enough,

I am only 3 months into medical transition, after 40 years in an enormous male body. I went out to appointments and ran errands in femme clothes (high waisted pants and flowy tops are fabulous) without makeup or a wig. When it’s your livelihood it’s different, but I just stopped caring. My doctor, my brilliant neurologist, my dermatologist are all trans women and they are going to work every day as their real selves. Why shouldn’t I?

You totally should! I’m glad you have the courage to do it 😊

I’d love to, but I’m still closeted to almost everyone, except for my therapist, wife, and a few close friends. And I work with a bunch of conservative white men close to retirement. I have the absolute joy of hearing my boss listen to conservative talk radio almost every day. I’m legally protected from discrimination, but I think coming out and presenting femme at work would create a difficult environment that I’m not ready to deal with right now. I’ll probably change jobs, and let the new one know that I’m going to be transitioning, rather than try to make this one work, since I’m hoping to move away sometime in the next year anyway.
