Referring to Trump as “Daddy” has become quite the thing among conservatives. Reps. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) and Byron Donalds (R-Fla.) have both done so. Right-wing internet personality Charlie Kirk called him “dad.”

Former Fox News personality Tucker Carlson has likened Trump to an angry dad going to give “a bad girl” a “vigorous spanking” and actor Mel Gibson said Trump’s return to office is “like daddy arrived and he’s taking his belt off.”

What is wrong with this timeline? It makes the Cold War and various idiocies from then seem fully sane and normal.

I’m not exactly sure - far from it - but I have this theory that we might be witnessing the death throes of religion (via its secularization) even though it doesn’t quite look like it from the outside. All that repressed sexuality really fucks people up and when they get unmoored from it they go into a sort of psychic apoplexy, which is what we are witnessing. I’m grasping at straws here because goddamn is it weird rn.

Any given Tuesday these days makes NASA building a human style house underwater for a dolphin and trying to talk to it while tripping balls on LSD seem sane and reasonable
