One of the few accurate things Trump has said was that he could “shoot someone in the middle of fifth avenue and not lose any votes.” He pulled the phrase out of his ass but I think he was correct. His base either chooses to ignore his lifetime of scumbaggery or they know and just don’t care. I doubt there’s anything Putin has on him that would turn off the MAGA crowd. And I’m sure he’s done some truly horrible shit that we don’t know about.
His supporters don’t care. They lack empathy. It has been repeatedly demonstrated that the only way they will care is if his poor decisions impact them in a very personal, tangible way.
And even then that’s not a guarantee. Lots of people on social media complain about the results of his administration and include the addendum: “Please don’t blame my special boy for my misery.”
They are full of hate, and just want him to hurt the people they hate
They will happily be hurt too, just so long as they think that Trump is hurting their perceived foes even worse
It’s disgusting, and so very American
Definitely not exclusive to the US but still a significant and shameful part of our history. In every news article I have read that has contained an intervju with a Trump supporter, they have said that they do not believe which every accusation was asked about. Trump’s repeated claims about “fake news” does seem to work really well.
