Wilson even asks him why he’s happy one time a patient died afterwards. And he literally just goes “but I solved the case” in a snarky way.

Absolutely. A continuing theme in the show that is consistently overlooked by a lot of people is that his primary addiction isn’t vicodin. It’s solving a puzzle. Like they bat people upside the head with that over so many major plot points and so many people I know who watched it just didn’t get that. Fucking Cuddy even says it point blank in one episode. Nope.

Yeah, I recently started a rewatch and I don’t understand how people miss that.

Over and over again his leg doesn’t hurt while working on a case(even off drugs), and then he’s clutching his thigh and throwing things around as soon as it’s solved.

These are the same people who refuse to accept that Raymond Reddington and Katarina Rostova are the same person despite the entire show hammering it constantly and outright spoonfeeding it twice. And it’s not like The Blacklist is high brow. I love the show but it’s awful. I just watch it because James Spader is a delight. Probably why I’ve made so many fucking GIFs of it…

Without James Spader, that show would have been 2-3 seasons, at most. It might not have even got greenlit. Because of his performance it got something like 10 seasons. Although I have to admit I still haven’t watched the last few seasons. The interpersonal conflict went too far into day-time soap for me.
